Reinharz Highlights AI’s Role in Shaping the Future of Security at ASIS Meeting
DORAL, FL — Steve Reinharz, CEO/CTO and founder of Robotic Assistance Devices, Inc., emphasized the critical role of artificial intelligence in transforming the security industry during his presentation at the ASIS meeting on Oct. 24. Speaking at the Hispanic Police Officers Association, Reinharz discussed the concept of “winners and losers” in the evolving landscape of AI technology.
“I will say to everybody right now who’s thinking, ‘hey, the future is dystopian,’ the present’s dystopian and the past is dystopian,” Reinharz stated. “We have always had winners and losers. And we’re going through this transition again where a new set of winners will be defined, and a new set of losers will be defined.”
Reinharz demonstrated AI’s capabilities by simulating a dental office conversation that illustrated how seamlessly AI can interact with users. In this scenario, he quickly set up a dentist appointment without any long pauses, showcasing what he referred to as Autonomous Intelligent Response (AIR). This technology enables AI to engage in conversations without noticeable delays, enhancing the overall user experience.
The integration of AIR into security systems is revolutionizing the industry. AI-enabled cameras can now interact with individuals by personalizing interactions based on visual cues, thereby enhancing security protocols. This shift is transforming traditional roles in security monitoring into more automated and efficient systems.
Reinharz also highlighted AIR’s application in environments such as construction sites and hospitals, where safety gear is essential. The technology can communicate with workers to ensure compliance with safety protocols, reminding them to wear necessary protective equipment like gloves and hard hats.
As he wrapped up his presentation, Reinharz underscored the importance of adapting to these technological advancements. While acknowledging ethical challenges and privacy concerns, he argued that AI and security technologies offer opportunities for safer environments and new job creation.
“As Big Brother realized, it is here. It’s unstoppable. Let’s be on the winning side of it as opposed to the side that loses the pushback battle,” Reinharz concluded.
