SHAYNA MIDDLEMAN
Manager, Intelligence – Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd
I have been in the US Navy for 8 years as an Intelligence specialist. In 2022 I made Chief, which is a senior enlisted rank (the scale is E1-E9 and I am an E7). I m one of very few people to have made this rank within five years of entering service.
I’ve spent time at US Southern Command, overseas in the USNS Trenton, and most recently, at US Central Command. The Navy is where I learned analytics and intelligence tradecraft, which has helped tremendously in pioneering Norwegian Cruise Lines intelligence capabilities.
I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in criminal justice from FIU in 2015.
I’ve been with NCLH since 2022. I started as the Intelligence manager here and, alongside my senior manager Dwight, have built the company’s intelligence capabilities. We primarily focus on open source reporting and publicly available information to provide well-rounded analysis to key decision makers throughout all three cruise line brands.
Key areas of interest for NCLH intelligence are any incidents which would impact operations for either ships or guests. We focus primarily on protests, workers strikes, political unrest, etc but do monitor global events, terrorism, and migration patterns, which helps us achieve guest safety and experience.
